Presentation of credentials by the Ambassador of Australia to the President of the Hellenic Republic
On Friday, 14 July 2023, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, successively received the credentials of five new Ambassadors to Greece, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Malek Hossein Givzad, Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Mr. José Luis Pombo, Ambassador of the Republic of India, Mr. Rudrendra Tandon, and the Ambassador of Australia, Ms. Alison Duncan, and the head of the Palestinian Diplomatic Mission in Greece, Mr. Yussef Victor Dorkhom.
The ceremony of presenting the credentials was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Mr. Konstantinos Fragogiannis and the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Ms. Aliki Hatzi.
According to a media report from the Embassy of Australia, during the meeting that Ms. Sakellaropoulou and the new Ambassador, Ms. Alison Duncan took part in, they discussed the past, present and future of the bilateral relationship between Greece and Australia, noting that “shared values, strong wartime ties and the valuable contribution of the Greek Community to Australia’s multicultural society are the solid foundations upon which the bilateral relationship has evolved into an enduring friendship”.
“Looking to the future, the Ambassador and the President of Greece discussed our mutual interests, cooperation in the multilateral sector and the growing trade and investment ties between the two countries,” the Australian Embassy in Athens commented.
