Phanar: Feast Day of Saint John Chrysostom celebrated at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George
On Wednesday, 13 November 2024, the memory of Saint John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople, was honoured with a Divine Liturgy at the venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George in the Phanar. His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi officiated at the Divine Liturgy, which drew a significant gathering of faithful to commemorate the revered Father of the Church.
During the feast day services, and according to ancient order, the holy icon of Saint John Chrysostom was placed on the Patriarchal Throne, while his sacred relics were positioned on the soleas for veneration by the faithful. The faithful gathered in reverence, seeking the Saint’s intercession and honouring his enduring legacy in the Orthodox Church.
