Perth: Hierarchical Vespers Service at the Cave of St George
On Saturday the 22 April 2023, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, presided at the outdoor Hierarchical Vespers Service at the Cave of St George the Great Martyr. The cave is located on the grounds of the Holy Monastery of St John in Forrestfield.
In his sermon, His Grace outlined the martyrdom of St George, whose memory we celebrate on the 23rd of April, and emphasised that the best way to honour our saints is to try and imitate them.
His Grace said, “One way in which we can imitate St George is to try and resemble him when it comes to confessing our faith. God gave us a tongue, heart and nous for confessing His Great wonders.”
Prior to the distribution of the artoklasia, His Grace conveyed to all the Paschal blessing and love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and informed all that His Eminence will next be visiting the Archdiocesan District of Perth in July.
