Perth: Feast Day of the Transfiguration of Our Lord and Saint Nektarios Church fund raising luncheon
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea officiated at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Nektarios on Sunday 6 August 2023 for the Great Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord.
His Grace in his sermon focussed on the Gospel Pericope of the day and mentioned how the Feast of the Transfiguration is a Theophany for we have the manifestation of the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity on Mount Tabor as we have in the River Jordan on the day of Christ’s baptism.
In addition, His Grace Bishop Elpidios also explained how the Feast of the Transfiguration is connected to the Passion and Resurrection of Christ which historically took place 40 days prior to our Lords Crucifixion.
Immediately following the Divine Liturgy, a fund-raising church luncheon took place in the new Conference Room of the Archdiocesan District of Perth offices located next door to the Church of St Nektarios. This was the first time in which a St Nektarios Church Luncheon was held in the new premises and the feedback received by all was extremely positive.
Over 200 people attended the luncheon, including the Greek Consul in Perth, Mrs. Georgia Karasiotou. Overall, it was a huge success.
His Grace Bishop Elpidios conveyed to all the blessing and paternal love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and announced the services that will be taking place in the District of Perth for the forthcoming Feast of the Dormition of the Holy Theotokos.
