Perth: End of School Year Celebrations for the Greek Language and Culture Institute
On Saturday, 9 December 2023, the closing celebration of the 2023 school year for the Greek Language and Culture Institute of Evangelismos took place at the premises of the North Perth Primary School.
The event was brightened by the presence of students, parents, and relatives, as well as His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Archiepiscopal Vicar of the Archdiocesan District of Perth, the Consul of Greece in Perth, Mrs. Georgia Karasiotou, the President of the Greek Orthodox Community of Evangelismos, Mr. John Karakatsanakis and the parish priest of the Church of the Annunciation of Our Lady Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, the Very Rev. Emmanuel Stamatiou.
The event took place in a warm and festive environment and had a strong Greek character. The students carried out theatrical performances and recited well-known school festive songs accompanied by the musical group of the Parish of the Annunciation of Our Lady (Evangelismos).
Also, the Pontian Dance Group “St George” honoured the event with its presence, performing two traditional dances. At the end of the event, the school’s Education and Leadership Consultant, Dr. Angela Evangelinou-Yiannakis addressed the audience.
Santa Claus distributed gifts to all the children who attended. This was then followed by a Brunch that was organised by the Greek Orthodox Community of Evangelismos in collaboration with the “Parents & Friends Association.”
At the end of the event, His Grace Bishop Elpidios conveyed to everyone the paternal love and blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
