Patriarchate of Jerusalem: The Sacrament of Holy Unction

On the evening of Sunday, 23rd December 2024 / 5th January 2025, the Sunday before the Nativity of Christ, the Sacrament of Holy Unction was held at the Monastic Church of Saints Constantine and Helen, following the Vespers service.

This Sacrament, which plays a pivotal role in preparing us for the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of Christ and in the salvation of our souls, was led by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem He was assisted by six other Bishops and Priests, making a total of seven, in accordance with the Typikon of the Church.

After the Holy Unction service, the anointing with the words “Blessed Christmas” followed.
