Patriarch of Romania congratulated newly enthroned Archbishop of Albania

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania conveyed a message of congratulations at the enthronement of the newly elected Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, Ioannis (Pelushi).

“We are fully confident that Your Beatitude will fulfil the new ministry entrusted to you with great pastoral responsibility and missionary dynamism, contributing to the proclamation of the Gospel message of our Lord Jesus Christ to an increasingly secularized world, marked by multiple crises”, transmitted the Patriarch of Romania.

Members of the Holy Synod of the Albanian Orthodox Church,
Honourable audience,

The Romanian Orthodox Church has received with great joy the news of Your Beatitude’s enthronement as Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania.

Through the mysterious work of the Holy Spirit’s grace, you are called today to the high ministry of Primate of the Orthodox Church of Albania, with the sacred mission of faithfully continuing and further developing the spiritual legacy of Archbishop Anastasios of blessed memory.

We are fully confident that Your Beatitude will fulfil the new ministry entrusted to you with great pastoral responsibility and missionary dynamism, contributing to the proclamation of the Gospel message of our Lord Jesus Christ to an increasingly secularized world, marked by multiple crises.

Therefore, Your Beatitude’s ministry as Primate of the Orthodox Church of Albania is of utmost importance in the contemporary context, where our common Pan-Orthodox testimony must be re-affirmed with even greater strength.

Thus, we assure you of our full availability for the closest possible cooperation between our sister Churches. Only in this way will we be able to bear together a credible Christian testimony in Europe and throughout the world.

We pray our Saviour Jesus Christ, the “High Priest of our confession” (Hebrews 3, 1), to grant you peace, joy, and abundant help, so that you may serve the Orthodox Church of Albania, guiding the hierarchs of the Holy Synod, the clergy, and the Orthodox faithful of this country on the path of salvation.

At the same time, through our fraternal message conveyed to Your Beatitude by His Eminence Nifon, Archbishop of Târgoviște, Honorary Metropolitan and Patriarchal Exarch, we find great spiritual joy in sharing in this blessed feast of the entire Orthodoxy in general and of the Orthodox Church of Albania in particular.
