Patriarch of Antioch meets with Delegation from Syrian National Coalition and Negotiation Commission

His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East met with Mr. Hadi al-Bahra, President of the Syrian National Coalition, and Dr. Badr Jamous, President of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, along with their accompanying delegation, at the Patriarchal Residence in Damascus.

The meeting centered on discussions about the future of Syria as a state founded on equal citizenship, where all components of society share equal rights and responsibilities guaranteed by a constitution. They emphasised the need for inclusive participation in drafting this constitution, ensuring consensus on constitutional issues, freedom of expression, and political life.

The Patriarch and the delegation underscored the importance of solidarity and unity in fostering stability, promoting civil peace, and addressing citizens’ basic needs. They also highlighted the urgency of revitalising the country’s economy to support its recovery and growth.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to collaboration in building a peaceful and prosperous future for all Syrians.
