Patriarch of Alexandria leading faithful in the Akathist Hymn at Cathedral of the Annunciation
The city of Alexandria, renowned for its rich religious and historical significance, has consistently bestowed honour and reverence upon its feast days, infusing them with the requisite respect and prestige.
Similarly, on Friday, the fifth week of Great Lent, on April 19, 2024, the community churches of Alexandria resounded with the divine devotion of the Akathist Hymn.
In the Cathedral of the Annunciation, the figure of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa stood out prominently among the faithful, who solemnly observed their hierarch as he prayed standing and bestowed blessings upon them.
Metropolitan Panteleimon of Ptolemaida, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, and Archimandrite Filaret prayerfully attended the service.
