Patra to host major Olympic memorabilia exhibition featuring 10,000 artifacts
Some 10,000 original pieces from a private collection of Olympic Games memorabilia are going on display in the western port city of Patra on Monday, in a show running until August 3 at City Hall.
The exhibits have been donated by Pantelis Kotzanoulis, who is believed to have the biggest collection of its kind in Greece, with more than 30,000 pieces.
The Patra show includes stamps, medals, trophies, advertising merchandise and much more. It is dedicated to Nikolaos Andriakopoulos, a native of Patra and Olympic gymnast who competed in the first modern Games, in Athens, in 1896, and organised under the aegis of the Hellenic Olympic Committee.
