Oakleigh Grammar Students visit Mount Athos
On Tuesday, 26 November 2024, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne had the pleasure of meeting and having lunch with the students of Oakleigh Grammar School, who recently visited Mount Athos, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
The students expressed their gratitude to the Archbishop for his support, while they shared with His Grace their thoughts and experiences from the visit to the “Garden of the Virgin Mary”.
Bishop Kyriakos focused on the peace that the young people encountered on Mount Athos, pointing out that this peace is within each of them and can be applied to their daily lives.
Also present at the meal were the Chaplain for the school, Father Stavros Kakavas, and its Principal, Mr. Mark Robertson.
At the end of the meeting, a small gift was offered to Bishop Kyriakos, in recognition of his support of this special journey.
