New Year’s Day in the Holy Diocese of Brisbane
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane presided the Vespers service on New Years Eve for the great feasts of the Circumcision of Our Lord and Saint Basil the Great, at the Church of Saint Paraskevi, Brisbane.
His Grace thanked the clergy of Brisbane and the lay congregation for their attendance stating that in 2025 Vespers services will be conducted for every Great feast day of the Lord and every feast day of the Holy Theotokos.
The following day His Grace presided over the Matins service and celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Parish of Saint Paraskevi in Brisbane. The New Years Day message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia was read to the congregation, and the traditional cutting of the Vasilopita took place.
His Grace conveyed the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and wished the congregation a blessed new year, “a year where we must strengthen our relationship with God and improve our relationships with our brethren”
