Metropolitan Theodoretos of Laodicea is the new representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Athens
Metropolitan Theodoretos of Laodicea was elected by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, as the new representative of Ecumenical Patriarchate in Athens.
At the session on February 10 and 11, the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate also decided to elect Archimandrite Grigorios Tsoutsoulis with the title of Abydos, Assistant Bishop of Buenos Aires Joseph, following a proposal by the latter and the approval of Ecumenical Patriarch.
Also, at the end of the session, the Elder Metropolitan of Chalcedon Emmanuel, on behalf of the outgoing members of the Holy and Holy Synod, exchanged addresses with the Ecumenical Patriarch, on the occasion of the end of the current synodal period.
This was followed by the canonization ceremony of the late Ecumenical Patriarchs Cyril I the Cretan (Loukaris) and Saint Cyril VI the Thracian, at the Patriarchal Church, with the signing of the relevant patriarchal and synodal acts.
