Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno liturgised at the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, Chalepa

On Wednesday afternoon of the Third week of Lent, 19 March 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos travelled to the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, Chalepa, in Milopotamos, where the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified gifts took place.

Before the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery, Archimandrite Porphyrios Awad, welcomed His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos with warm words and wished him well on the completion of three years since his enthronement on the historic throne of the Holy Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos.

His Eminence, in responding, praised God for this greatest blessing and sought the prayers of all people for the promotion of the work of the Local Church, emphasising the value of unity and the utilisation of the gifts of all people within our Holy Church.

In the presence of the distinguished Regional Councillor in the field of Civil Protection and President of the Prevention Centre of the Regional Unit of Rethymno, Mr. Michalis Sarris, His Eminence expressed his joy because, as he said characteristically, four of the five children who will take exams to study at the School of Apprenticeship for Clergy Candidates of the Church of Crete, come from Mylopotamos and this is a hopeful and commendable fact.

This was followed by a fasting meal for all the pilgrims which took place in the Monastery’s refectory.
