Metropolitan Bartholomew of Kilkis on Missionary visit to Uganda

His Eminence Metropolitan Bartholomew of Poliana and Kilkis arrived on Monday 1 July 2024 at Entebbe International Airport ahead of his 10 day Missionary visit to Uganda.

His Eminence was welcomed with his entourage of seven, including his Protosyncellus and Father Epiphanios, the Abbott of Saint Nektarios monastery, by His Eminence Archbishop Ieronymos of Kampala, and local clergy including Father Nicholas Bayego, the Cathedral Dean, and Father Muyingo Christopher.

With his entourage, Metropolitan Bartholomew was received at Saint Nicholas Cathedral by the local faithful which was followed by a Doxology Service in which His Eminence Metropolitan Innocentios Byakatonda of Sozusa was present.

Metropolitan Bartholomew was led on a guided tour around the institutions at the centre including, Chwa II Memorial Collage, Namungoona Orthodox Primary School, Uganda Orthodox Church Mothers Union Centre, and Holy Cross Orthodox Hospital, and later for lunch at the Metropolis Headquarters.

During his stay in the pearl of Africa, he is expected to visit different mission centres including, Kikwatambogo in Kiboga District where he will lay a foundation Stone for the new Church dedicated to St. Nektarios; St. Andrew, Nkonge in Mukono; Holy Apostles, Kyanuna where he will celebrate the divine Liturgy and School opening; visit different monastic centres among others.

His Eminence Archbishop Ieronymos of Kampala wished the entourage a pleasant and blessed stay in Uganda.
