Melbourne: The Feast Day of Christmas at the Church of Saint Catherine in Malvern East

On Tuesday evening of 24 December (Christmas Eve), and into the early hours of 25 December 2024 (Christmas Day), His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne presided over the Matins and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at the Church of Saint Catherine in Malvern East, Melbourne.

His Grace was accompanied by the Parish Priest, Fr. George Adamakis, and the Assistant Priest, Fr. Kyriakos Tsapas, while among the faithful who attended the service was the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis.

During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Kyriakos read the Christmas Message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, while Fr. George read the Patriarchal Christmas Message, of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, both Bishop Kyriakos and Father George bid farewell to Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis, as his term as Consul General in Melbourne ends in the new year 2025, with his departure from Australia. As a Christmas gift, but also as a token of appreciation, Fr. George offered Mr. Kakavelakis an icon of the Nativity of Christ.

Finally, Bishop Kyriakos extended heartfelt wishes to everyone for a blessed Christmas, and conveyed the paternal wishes and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
