Melbourne: “power of the word: then and now” Talk
On Thursday, 26 May 2022 with the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and guidance of Bishop Kyriakos, Dr Nicholas Manolios presented the second talk of the ‘Power of the Word’ series at Sts Constantine and Helen in South Yarra, Victoria.
Dr Manolios’s talk ‘The Power of the Word: Then and Now’, highlighted how the scriptural word is ultimately governed by the Holy Spirit and endures through time and is relevant across all generations.
Throughout the talk, Dr Manolios explained how the word in the spiritual context impact us every day especially in defining our Orthodox Christian beliefs and helping us to understand God’s message.
Ultimately, the audience learnt how words are transformative in changing and shaping our own identity. Dr Manolios highlighted how through Pentecost the Divine word spread throughout the world constantly impacts our interactions with ourselves, one another and God.
In the second part of the talk, the audience learnt how words and our actions impact us physiologically. Dr Manolios emphasised how our internal thoughts and words need not to be negative as they affect us and others.
Ultimately, Dr Manolios explained how through the Holy Spirit words in the Orthodox Christian context are for our continual renewal and strengthening to achieve salvation. The audience was treated to light refreshments after the talk in the hall.
