Melbourne: Feast Day program of the Church of the Dormition of Our Lady, Altona North

The Greek Orthodox Parish of the Dormition of Our Lady, in the suburb of Altona North in Melbourne, is preparing to celebrate with due splendour the great feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

The liturgical services in honour of the Virgin Mary will begin on Wednesday, 14 August 2024, with the celebration of the Great Vespers of the feast of the Dormition, presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia (from 7 pm).

On the main day of the Feast, Thursday 15 August, the Matins and Divine Liturgy will take place from 8:00am.

On Sunday, 18 August 2024, the annual Parish Festival will take place, starting at 11:00 am, after the Divine Liturgy, lasting until late afternoon. The traditional festival will include entertainment with Greek music and food, sweets and drinks, activities for children and much more.
