Innovative smart signs enhance accessibility in Orthodox Parishes in Italy
With the blessing and guidance of His Eminence Metropolitan Polycarp of Italy, innovative “smart” signs have been introduced at parish entrances to provide immediate access to historical, liturgical, and practical information about the parishes.
These signs align with the principles of sustainable mobility, featuring advanced electronic systems powered by artificial intelligence. They are designed to ensure accessibility for individuals with visual or hearing impairments, making the available information inclusive and user-friendly.
The first smart sign has been installed at the Parish of St. James in Florence by Archimandrite Nikolaos. In a special demonstration, he explained to parishioners how the sign operates, showcasing its functionality and accessibility features.
This initiative marks a significant step toward using technology to enhance communication, inclusivity, and connection within the Orthodox Christian community.
