Holy Diocese of Chora: Sunday before Theophany at the Church of the Presentation of Our Lord, Coburg

On Sunday, 5 January 2025, His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora presided over the Matins Service, the Great Sanctification of the Waters and the Divine liturgy which took place at the Church of the Presentation of Our Lord, in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg.

In his sermon, His Grace referred to the significance of the upcoming Great Feast of the Theophany, emphasising the renewal that Sanctification offers.

Furthermore, inspired by the figure of Saint John the Baptist, the great Prophet and Forerunner, His Grace encouraged the faithful to imitate his example. Bishop Evmenios reminded us that we are all called to be “forerunners” in our daily lives, leading the people we meet to Christ with our love, our way of life and our witness.

In closing, His Grace conveyed the blessing and paternal love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, urging the faithful to approach the feast of the Theophany of Our Lord with faith, devotion and spiritual preparation.
