On Sunday evening, 13 March, 2022, in which the Church commemorates the Sunday of Orthodoxy, accompanied by the reverend clergy and faithful of the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne, the second Lenten Vespers were officiated by His Grace, Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in North Altona, Melbourne, Victoria.
In His Grace’s homily, He developed the subject of prayer as a whole and the meaning of the sacred icons, he characteristically stated that “the purpose of the Sunday of Orthodoxy is for us all to become living icons of God. For us all to attain the light of Christ, for us also to encompass the Holy Spirit and for us all to become Holy, Saints”
“Our ancestors came here for economic reasons. But they had a lot of faith. And when their lives were over, they were “planted” in the land of Australia.”
