Greek Welfare Centre Victoria: CHRISTMAS 2022 Food Hamper & Toy Appeal for families in need

Greek – Australian households in financial need will receive a Christmas Hamper in a joint effort between the Greek Orthodox Parishes and the Greek Welfare Centre. For the past twenty two years the Greek Welfare Centre has taken the leading role in organising and co-ordinating an Easter and Christmas Food Hamper and Toy Appeal with the solid support of the parish network of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

What can be donated?

Health and practical reasons restrict the collection to non-perishable food items. These items may include; oil, pasta, rice, coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, canned food (including vegetables, meats, hams etc), sauces, flour, spices, snacks etc. Before purchasing or dropping off such items to the collection points, please check the use by dates and that there are no ruptures to the packaging.

Toys can also be donated. We ask that toys are new, or at least as close to new as possible in their original packaging to ensure a pleasurable experience for the recipient children.

Greek Australian businesses

The Greek Welfare Centre would like to encourage more Greek-Australian businesses to give generously to our Christmas Food and Toy Appeal. The more we collect, the more we are able to distribute through our volunteer network to disadvantaged Greek – Australian families in Metropolitan Melbourne.

When?

The non-perishable food and toys can be dropped off at the Greek Orthodox Churches until the latest Sunday December 18th 2022 or alternatively at the Greek Welfare Centre at the Holy Monastery of Axion Estin  at 7 Hartington Street Northcote until the latest Thursday  December 22d   2022.
