Great Vespers at the birthplace of Saint Nikodemos the Hagiorite
On Thursday afternoon, 13 July 2023, the Great Festive Vespers in memory of Saint Nikdemos of Hagiorite were celebrated with due splendour, at the Parish Church of Saint Nikodemos in his birthplace, the island of Naxos.
His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos officiated at the Great Vespers Service, and was also joined by Their Eminences, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia, Metropolitan Theoklitos of Ierissos, Mount Athos and Ardamerion and His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Keramos and the local Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Kallinikos of Paros and Naxos.
Prior to the Great Vespers, in the courtyard of the Church, the reception of the Holy Hand of Saint Arsenios of Paros took place, which was brought, from the Holy Monastery of Christos of Dasos -Saint Arsenios of Paros, by the Preacher of the Holy Metropolis, Archimandrite Arsenios Melissanios.
Before the conclusion of the Great Vespers, His Eminence Metropolitan Kallinikos of Paros and Naxos presented the invited Holy Hierarchs and addressed them cordially, expressing his grateful thanks for accepting his invitation for the feast day. Afterwards, His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa addressed the congregation, who, after thanking, on behalf of the other Hierarchs, Metropolitan Kallinikos for his fraternal invitation, preached the divine word.
After the Great Vespers, a Holy Vigil followed, which ended in the early hours of the morning.
