Georgians of Smyrna honour the memory of Saint George, their patron saint.

Their much-loved patron, Saint George the Great Martyr, was honoured by the Georgian-born members of the Orthodox Community of Smyrna, on the occasion of the feast of the translation of the holy relics of Saint George in his church in Lydda, Palestine.

On the morning of Thursday, November 3, the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy were held in the Holy Church of Saint Foteini, conducted by Archimandrite Very Rev. Father Ilias Jinjolava, while presided over by the resident shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna from the holy throne.  Ms. Makvala Kharebava, on behalf of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Smyrna, and a sufficient number of Georgian faithful attended.

After the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, there followed a celebratory meal with traditional Georgian foods in the courtyard of the Holy Church.
