‘Five Loaves’ continues fresh hot meals and sandwiches for homeless

On Thursday, 24 November 2022 the Five Loaves Initiative in the District of Melbourne prepared hot meals for the vulnerable from the commercial kitchen at the Greek Orthodox Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in South Yarra.

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, and with the guidance of His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, the hot meals and made fresh sandwiches this week. The hot meals consisted of roast chicken, fried rice, fresh fruit, cake, snacks and water. All meals were distributed to the vulnerable at the Queen Victoria Market and to people living in crisis accommodation. These meals provide a strong source of nutrition to these people in need.

On Sunday, 27 November 2022 parishioners from Saints Constantine and Helen in South Yarra made 500 sandwiches for distribution to people in need. Volunteers came together to make fresh ham and cheese sandwiches which were then distributed at the Queen Victoria Market and to crisis accommodation in West Melbourne, Parkville and St Kilda.
