Feast day of Panagia Krimniotissa in Samothrace
On Thursday, 17 August 2023, during the three-day feast of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, the feast day of the picturesque Chapel of Panagia Krimniotissa in Samothrace was held.
According to a long-lived tradition of the Island, the local residents of Samothrace celebrate the feast of Panagia Krimniotissa on the third day after the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos at the steep rocky location where the Chapel is located with a Divine Liturgy followed by traditional dances and songs.
The revival of this feast of the Virgin Mary Krimniotissa on the steep rock began timidly this year with a Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Anthimos of Alexandroupolis in the Chapel of Krimniotissa on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
