Evia: 72nd anniversary of the appearence of the Virgin Mary in Nea Artaki
On Monday of Renewall Week, 17 April 2023, the Holy Pilgrimage of Panagia Faneromeni in Nea Artaki celebrated the Feast Day of Pascha.
The miraculous appearance of the Most Holy Theotokos in the refugee settlement area of Artaki of Kyzikos, which is recorded in the synaxarist of the day as follows:
“On the day of Holy Pascha, the 29th of April of the saving year 1951, eight girls from Nea Artaki rushed, near the beach, playing and singing resurrection hymns, saw, O of the paradoxical miracle, the Lady Theotokos mourning, kneeling down and praying in the middle of the bushes being covered in uncreated light. Fearfully, they hastened to announce this foreign apparition of the Theotokos to their parents, they and all the towns of Artaki built most beautiful church in Honour of the Appearence of the Theotokos, in the place of the Appearence and in honour of the Theotokos Faneromeni, who is the patron and protectress of Palaia Artaki in the Kyziki peninsula of the Propontis. This Church was shown by divine grace to be an inward well and a source of endless miracles.”
On Monday morning, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida, officiated at the resurrection Matins and then presided at the Divine Liturgy, at the end of which, wished to the congregation a blessed and joyous Pascha, and he briefly expressed the value of the companionship of the Virgin Mary with her children, Christians baptised in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, who are recognisedas Her children, when we follow Her Son and our God and the Mother of God herself, as models of humility.
