ERTFLIX International sponsors the Grand Award at the Greek Film Festival in Berlin

ERTFLIX International proudly supports The Greek Film Festival in Berlin as an official media sponsor. The festival will take place at the historic Babylon cinema venue in Berlin from March 26 to March 30, 2025. Beginning this year and continuing for the next three years, the festival’s prestigious Emerging Greeks Award will be presented under the sponsorship of ERTFLIX International.
The Emerging Greeks Award is the top honor in the festival’s main competition, the Emerging Greeks Competition. Established in 2019, it recognizes debut and sophomore films by Greek directors. As a unique initiative among national film festivals worldwide, the award aims to spotlight emerging Greek filmmakers and introduce their work to both audiences and key industry professionals. Over the years, it has gained significant recognition and prestige, maintaining its independence and credibility through distinguished juries that reinforce its artistic and professional value.
*”We are thrilled to elevate our collaboration with ERT’s international digital platform, ERTFLIX International,” said Sofia Stavrianidou, Festival Director. “ERTFLIX International offers a carefully curated selection of films available to audiences in Germany at any time. Its strong focus on cinema aligns perfectly with our festival’s mission—to showcase new Greek filmmaking to both Greek-speaking and international audiences. We sincerely thank ERT for this invaluable partnership.”

“ERTFLIX International, ERT’s global streaming platform, is dedicated to supporting and promoting Greek cinema at every opportunity,” said Kostas Machairas, Director of ERT’s Department for Greeks Abroad. “We are committed to standing by emerging Greek filmmakers and ensuring that Greeks around the world can connect with contemporary Greek cinema. It is an honor to support The Greek Film Festival in Berlin, and we are proud that its main competition award—the aptly named Emerging Greeks Award—now bears the sponsorship of Ertlix International.”
The festival’s 10th-anniversary edition opened on March 26 to a packed theater. With a strong focus on emerging Greek filmmakers, this milestone event features a dynamic and diverse program showcasing the latest in Greek cinema.
ERT remains Greece’s only television network to provide consistent support for film production through its 1.5% funding program, which allocates significant annual resources to the creation of feature films, short films, and documentaries.
