Ecumenical Patriarch met with President of the Republic of Montenegro
On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, the President of the Republic of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Grand Protosyncellus Theodoros, along with the clergy of the Patriarchal Court, welcomed the President to the Propylaea of the Patriarchate, accompanied by his associates. Afterwards, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who expressed his joy for the visit of the President, referred to the recent visits to the Phanar of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, and a group of Teachers and Seminarists of the Theological Seminar of St. Peter Cetinje, but also to his long friendship and cooperation with the late Metropolitan of Montenegro Amfilohije.
For his part, President Djukanovic, among others, pointed out that this is the first visit of a head representative of his country to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in over a century.
During their cordial meeting, which was attended by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, clergymen of the Patriarchal Court, and members of the President’s Entourage, issues of mutual interest were discussed.
