Ecumenical Patriarch meets with Leader of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia

On Wednesday, 3 July 2024, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with Mr. Ruslan Abashidze, the head of the government-in-exile of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

During their meeting, they discussed various current issues. The Ecumenical Patriarch highlighted the peace initiatives and actions of the Mother Church, both at its headquarters and globally.

His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon represented the Patriarchate at the meeting. Mr. Abashidze was accompanied by his wife Ms. Tamar Chkheidze, the Consul General of Georgia in Constantinople Mr. Aleksandre Jishkariani, and the Minister of Justice of Abkhazia Mr. Giorgi Gabedava, along with members of his office.
