Ecumenical Patriarch celebrated Sunday of Pentecost in the Phanar
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy for the feast of Pentecost, today, June 20, 2021, at the Patriarchal Cathedral of Saint Georgios in the Phanar, with the participation of Metropolitans Meliton of Philadelphia, Eirinaios of Myriofyton and Peristasis, Gennadios of Sasima, Ioakeim of Bursa, Antonios of Ierapolis and Daniel of Pamfilon.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Ecumenical Patriarch presided over the Vespers of the Holy Spirit, during which he read the wishes of the Kneeling.
Bishop Mikhail of Komana, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Kyiv, the former President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, along with his close associates, Stavros Christodoulidis and Maksym Vdovychenko, Consuls of Greece and of Ukraine, and a few faithful attended the service in compliance with all COVID-19 restrictive measures.
The Ecumenical Patriarch then received the former President of Ukraine, along with his spouse Maryna and his associates. The meeting was also attended by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon.
At noon the president had the opportunity to discuss various current issues, including the Ecumenical Patriarch’s visit to Kyiv next August.
