Ecumenical Patriarch: Bound to the homeland, the saints, and the sanctuaries of our Nation, we endure and continue
On Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023, the Ecumenical Patriarch presided over the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, which was held at the Holy Church of Saint Marina in Schinoudi, Imbros.
The Divine Liturgy was attended by Metropolitans Kyrillos of Moschonisia and Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos, as well as many believers from Imbros and abroad.
Immediately afterwards, a treat was offered in the Hall of the Cultural Association of Schinoudi, where the Ecumenical Patriarch in a brief greeting, and on the occasion of a poem read by a young student, he said that this mountainous village was great, large, and proud, with very hardworking residents, but, as he said, the most unfortunate of the villages of Imbros. And the Patriarch added: “In the 1960s, Schinoudi suffered the greatest damage and the greatest hardships and was abandoned. Of the 3,000 inhabitants few were left. The settlers came and the rhythms of our lives changed. But we endure with the grace of God.
Bound to the homeland, the saints, and the sanctuaries of our Nation, we endure and continue. We praise God that this year, all together, we deserve to celebrate these holy days of Holy Week and Easter. I thank the Metropolitan Imbros for putting in the program of these days two choirs of mine in Schinoudi, today and on Holy Friday morning at the Vespers of the Descent from the Cross.”
On the afternoon of the same day, the Patriarch attended the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Altar of the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in the Church of Our Lady of Imbros. M. Ecclesiarchos Mr. Aetios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.
