Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew departs for Luxembourg
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew departed on Tuesday, 12 November 2024, for Luxembourg where he will make a short private visit at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxemburg.
Accompanying the Ecumenical Patriarch are Patriarchal Deacon Varnavas and Archon Pantelis Vigas, Megas Chartophylax.
During the absence of the Patriarch, His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi has been appointed as Patriarchal Commissioner Locum Tenens. Together with Grand Protosyncellus Archimandrite Gregory, they accompanied the Patriarch to the International Airport in Constantinople.
The Ecumenical Patriarch is expected to return on Saturday, and on Sunday he will preside at the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Valinos, in the Phanar-Golden Horn District.
