Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew: “A Priest’s mission is to guide believers to become true “temples of the Holy Spirit””

On Sunday, 22 September 2024, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew addressed the Holy Clergy and monastic brotherhoods of the Metropolis of Polyana and Kilkis during his visit to the region. In his heartfelt address, the Patriarch expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to be among the clergy and monks, highlighting the significance of priestly ministry as a sacred means of reconciling people with God.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew emphasised the priest’s role as both a servant of God and the faithful, with the divine mission of guiding believers to become true “temples of the Holy Spirit.” He pointed to the central importance of humility, continuous prayer, and unwavering obedience in the lives of priests and monks. “The priest and the monk must be models of humility and obedience, drawing inspiration from Christ,” the Patriarch noted, underscoring the need for spiritual guidance and love in bringing believers closer to God.

In his closing remarks, the Patriarch urged the clergy to remain loyal to their bishop and to fortify the spiritual well-being of their communities through love and devotion. He offered his blessings for their continued work and requested their prayers for both the Church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
