Cutting of the Vasilopita of the Holy Diocese of Melbourne

In an atmosphere of spiritual joy and jubilation, the cutting of the traditional Vasilopita of the Holy Diocese of Melbourne took place at the Archdiocesan Church of Saint Eustathios.

In a spirit of unity, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne, welcomed to the ceremony his brother Hierarchs, His Eminence Metropolitan Ezekiel of Dervis, and His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora.

Also in attendance were students and teachers from Oakleigh Grammar School, as well as a multitude of believers from across the Diocese of Melbourne, including the President of the Greek Community of Melbourne, Mr. Bill Papastergiadis, and Mr. Nicholas Archontonis, brother of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, with his wife, Katerini.

At the end of the cutting of the Vasilopita, the message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, was read to the faithful, with his paternal wishes for a blessed new year.
