Celebration of the Feast of Saint Maximus the Greek in his birthplace, Arta, Greece
On Friday afternoon, 20 January 2023, at the celebrating Holy Church of Saint Maximus the Greek in Arta, The Great Vespers which were officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Nikopolis and Preveza took place, which was also attended by His Eminence Metropolitan Kallinikos of Arta.
His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos delivered to homily during the Vespers. In his edifying homily he emphasised that the self-sacrificing confession of the Name of Christ was the main gift that Saint Maximus the Greek had.
The faithful also had the opportunity to venerate an exact copy of Our Lady Paramythia, who is honoured on the same day as Saint Maximus the Greek, of which was been donated to the parish by Abbot Ephraim of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi.
During the Vespers, the Holy Relic of Saint Maximus the Greek, which is kept in the Church, was also venerated, as well as the Holy Skull of Saint David of Evia, which was dedicated for the two days of the Holy Feast in the celebratory Holy Church by Abbot Geronda Gabriel of the Holy Monastery of Saint David in Evia.
The Holy Analogion was graced, together with the Chanters of the parish, by the Protopsaltis from Thessaloniki Mr. Ioannis Hasanidis and his entourage.
