The decision to award the photographic exhibition of the Holy Theological School of Halki at the Thessaloniki International Fair, which was organised at the stand of the city’s Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with “Byzantine Thessaloniki”, as the best participation in this year’s 86th Thessaloniki International Fair, was received by the Administration of the Exhibition.
The photographic exhibition, which included photographs of various areas of the School, as well as portraits of important and historical figures associated with it, was framed by the realisation of a special event, concerning the history and perspectives of the Theological School, on Thursday, September 15, which was attended by a large number of people.
During the awards ceremony, which took place on Sunday, September 18, by Mr. Kyriakos Pozrikidis, CEO of TIF, on behalf of the School, one of its graduates, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Vryoulon, was present and with much joy received the prize awarded for the School’s participation in the photographic exhibition, along with the General Secretary of “Byzantine Thessaloniki”, Mr. Z. Papadopoulou. During the awards ceremony, the President of the Trade Association of the city, Mr. P. Filippidis, was also present.
During his brief thank-you speech, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Vryoulon spoke with emotion about the Theological School of Halki, while he mentioned the School’s collaboration with “Byzantine Thessaloniki” for the organisation of the said exhibition, wishing on behalf of all those present the quick reopening of the School.
The Holy School of Theology, upon the end of its participation in this year’s TIF, expressed its deep thanks, in particular to “Byzantine Thessaloniki”, whom has aided and organised the said photographic exhibition, and to its President, His All-Holiness Metropolitan Anthimos of Thessaloniki under whose blessing this action was brought into fruition and completed, but also to its General Secretary, as well as to the other contributors and participants for their help and support. His Eminence also expressed special thanks to the representatives of the Greek State, Ministers Mrs A. Georgiadis, who performed the inauguration of the photography exhibition stand, and St. Kalafatis, who delivered a greeting during the organied event.
The awarding of the photographic exhibition of the Holy School of Theology in Halki, in addition to recognition of the invaluable cultural and historical wealth of the School, exhibited in the display, is at the same time a great aid and along with the support of the organisers and contributors of the TIF, in the just and continuous request of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the reopening of the Theological School of Halki.
