Archbishop Makarios welcomed the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to Australia
On Friday, 14 October 2022, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia welcomed to the central offices of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, in Sydney, the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to Australia, Mr Antonis Sammoutis
Mr. Sammoutis, who recently assumed his duties in the fifth continent, was warmly received by the Archbishop, who wished him a blessed and productive tenure.
At the same time, His Eminence discussed issues of common interest with the new High Commissioner of Cyprus, regarding Great Island nations of Cyprus and the Greek Cypriots of Australia, while the need to maintain close and friendly cooperation was agreed upon.
The meeting was attended by His Eminence Metropolitan Andrew of Forty Churches, representative of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the forthcoming Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis, Their Graces, Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis, Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia and Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, as well as the Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Father Christophoros Krikelis.
Earlier, Mr. Sammoutis had been given a guided tour by Their Graces the Assistant Bishops and the Chancellor Very Rev Fr.Christophoros Krikelis to the historic building of the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of our Lady.
