“Joy is an internal spiritual state. It is not guaranteed by the conditions set by the world,” His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, emphasises in a message via the Instagram social networking site. “Joy is an experience which comes from the heart,” he points out, adding that the two conditions for joy are love and kindness. Observing that “the punishment of the one who is evil and lacking empathy is the inability to experience true joy,” he concludes with the exhortation to avoid having negative thoughts and evil thoughts, and to become good people.
