Another vile act of vandalism at Hagia Sophia
Yet another act of vandalism was revealed this week at the iconic Hagia Sophia, which was reconverted into a mosque by the Erdogan regime in July 2020.
Turkish archaeologists shared photos of the damaged structure on Twitter, revealing damage to a water reservoir. The structure was broken and shoes had been placed inside and next to it.
The latest incident of vandalism emerged after the Turkish Association of Art Historians (STD) last month announced that the 1,400-year-old Imperial Gate inside the Hagia Sophia had been damaged by unidentified assailants.
The incident at the time drew severe reactions from around the world, with the Greek Foreign Ministry condemning the act as a “…distressing and disgusting vandalism.”
