Greek community in Lusaka celebrates 204th Anniversary of Greek Independence

On Sunday, 30 March 2025, the Greek community of Lusaka proudly celebrated the 204th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence.

The day began with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and a special Doxology Service held at the Church of Saint Alexander, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia. The event was attended by the Consuls General of Greece and Cyprus, the President of the Greek Community, and a large gathering of faithful and community members.

The Consul of Greece Mr. Michail Krupnik read the official message of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas.

The celebrations continued at the Heroes’ Monument with a memorial service and the laying of wreaths by local Greek leaders and dignitaries. The event concluded with traditional Greek hospitality, as attendees enjoyed festive food in a warm and patriotic atmosphere.
