The Sunday of Orthodoxy celebrated in Tanzania

The presence of Orthodoxy in Africa, and in particular in the Holy Diocese of Arusha and Central Tanzania, has taken root dynamically. With the Missionary Centre in Kidamali, Iringa as a point of reference, the Orthodox Church proceeds with catechesis, charitable works and strengthening of the spiritual life of local communities.

On the occasion of the great feast day of Orthodoxy, processions were held and icons were distributed to both young and old. The little children held the icons in their hands like a treasure, which they took home as a blessing. Have we thought about how much joy an icon can give to our brothers and sisters who are thirsty to learn more and delve deeper into the Orthodox faith and tradition?

In the city of Arusha, a festal Divine Liturgy was celebrated, presided over by His Grace Bishop Agathonikos of Arusha and Central Tanzania, while a procession around the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos was also held according to the rubrics of the feast.
