Greece among top five destinations for Europeans

Greece ranks very high in the preferences of the major European markets from which the country attracts travelers; however, competition with Spain and other countries such as Portugal and Croatia is intensifying.

In any case, Greece is now a very strong brand and a mature destination for high-end tourism, leaving far behind the era when Turkey and Egypt were its competitors.

For the major markets of Europe, the Greece brand is now in the top five: It ranks third in preference for traveling abroad in the next 12 months for the German market, fourth in France, fifth in the UK and seventh in Spain, a GWI survey shows.
