Sacrament of Holy Unction at the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, in the Holy Diocese of Chora
With devotion and reverence, the Sacrament of Holy Unction was celebrated on Sunday afternoon, 22 December 2024, at the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, in Thomastown, Melbourne, in the Holy Diocese of Chora. His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora, presided over the sacrament, and was accompanied by a multitude of clergy, while a multitude of faithful believers gathered to receive the grace and blessing of the Holy Spirit.
In his homily, His Grace referred to the importance of the Holy Sacrament as a preparation for the feast of Christmas, emphasising the need for spiritual and physical healing, as well as for inner renewal. He emphasised that the Holy Unction offers the opportunity for repentance and reconciliation with God, calling on the faithful to open their hearts to the love of Christ who comes into the world.
Bishop Evmenios, connecting the message of Christmas with the Sacrament of Holy Unction, pointed out that the Birth of Christ brings hope, light and salvation to every person, calling on everyone to accept Christ as the light of their lives and the healing of their souls and bodies.
Finally, His Grace conveyed the warm wishes and fatherly love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, with health, peace and blessings from God.
