HSC 2024: St. Spyridon College in the top 10% of schools in New South Wales
The results of the final HSC (Higher School Certificate) examinations in New South Wales have been announced, where 71 Year 12 students and 15 Year 11 Accelerated Program students from the Greek Orthodox St. Spyridon College in Sydney participated, having attended the two levels of the Modern Greek course (Modern Greek Extension and Modern Greek Continuers) and the advanced level of Mathematics (Mathematics Advanced). The above students achieved excellent results, confirming the academic excellence and dedicated work of both themselves and the College.
The highest ATAR result, with 98.75, was achieved by student Isabelle Zeiderman, demonstrating excellent academic performance. Specifically, 10 students from the College achieved an ATAR score above 95, while 20% of the entire cohort attained an ATAR exceeding 90, showcasing a strong overall performance across the board.
The success continued with three students being recognised as All Rounders, achieving the top grade in 10 or more units in their respective patterns of study. These were students Andrew Dalessis, Isabella Koutoulogenis and Isabella Zeiderman. Their results demonstrate a consistent level of high achievement across multiple subjects.
Additionally, 49% of the cohort were named Distinguished Achievers for attaining the highest possible band in one or more HSC courses. A remarkable 62% of the students’ results were above 80, and 84% of the cohort achieved marks within the top two bands.
St Spyridon College’s collective success was further reflected in its ranking of 81st in New South Wales, placing the College in the top 10% of schools in the state. These results underscore the College’s commitment to academic excellence and the dedication of its students and educators.
There was genuine excitement and joy as the students gathered to celebrate their achievements. The Head of College, Mrs Amelia Katsogiannis, proudly stated “Each day at St Spyridon College is a celebration, an opportunity to embrace our motto, and a commitment to pursue Excellence in all our endeavours.
