Korean Orthodox Church prays for peace and stability following failed coup in South Korea

In response to the recent failed coup attempt in South Korea, the Orthodox Metropolis of Korea held a special prayer service, seeking divine protection and peace for the nation. His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrosios expressed gratitude for the restoration of democracy without bloodshed and prayed for continued stability and national unity.

During the prayer, the Metropolitan stated:

“Merciful Lord, We thank You from the depths of our hearts for protecting our homeland from the great danger that recently threatened its freedom and peace.

We are grateful, Lord, that in such a short time and without bloodshed, You helped restore democratic governance in our country, sparing us from the suffering and tragic consequences of a totalitarian regime.

We ask for Your divine enlightenment, Lord, so that we may learn to defend our country with maturity and responsibility against anyone who seeks to violate the human rights of our people through violence.

We also pray, Lord, that You help us overcome peacefully the political challenges caused by recent events. Grant wisdom to our nation’s leaders so that they may govern always with humility, sacrificial love, freedom, justice, and equality, for the glory of Your holy Name, now and forever. Amen.”

The prayer service served as a spiritual call for reconciliation and wisdom, emphasising the importance of justice and humility in governance during this crucial time for South Korea.
