ERT President Yiannis Papadopoulos visits Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was visited by the President of ERT, Yiannis Papadopoulos, at the headquarters of the Ecumenical Throne, at the Phanar. The meeting, which lasted more than half an hour, was held in a particularly positive atmosphere.

The Ecumenical Patriarch thanked Mr. Papadopoulos and ERT for their long-standing support and the promotion of the message of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, giving the opportunity to his spiritual children in Greece and around the world to experience liturgical moments and keep alive their spiritual ties with the centre of Orthodoxy.

For his part, Mr Papadopoulos noted that ERT recognises the important role of the “beacon” of Orthodoxy, as well as the great personal contribution of the Ecumenical Patriarch throughout all these years of his pastοrate. He also assured His All-Holiness that ERT will continue to stand by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, promoting its work.

In particular, he conveyed to His All-Holiness ERT’s willingness to participate with its national symphony orchestra, next spring, in the commemorative events for the 1,700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea. ERT is also planning to hold an exhibition of historical audiovisual material, which will present the path of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, as recorded in its archives.

The president of ERT, before departing from the Phanar, visited the Venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George, where he was informed about its history and the relics kept in it.
