Aegina honours the memory of Saint Dionysios

On Monday evening, 16 December 2024, and with due ecclesiastical splendour, the Great Hierarchical Vespers on the occasion of the Feast Day of Saint Dionysios, Archbishop of Aegina took place, at the Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, in Aegina, and was officiated by the local Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Ephraim of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina, who also addressed the Holy Sermon, and was joined in participation by the Holy Clergy of the Island, and the Mayor of Aegina, Mr. Ioannis Zorbas, and a large congregation of faithful believers.

The choir of the Byzantine Music School of the Holy Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina “Saint Nektarios” chanted, under the direction of the choirmaster Mr. Dimitrios Kalomiris.

Moreover, on the same day, in the evening, the Great Vespers was celebrated with devotion in the celebrating parish of Saint Dionysios, in Pachia Rachi on the island of Aegina, with the blessing of the five loaves (Artoklasia) and the preaching of the Holy Sermon.

The care of the Holy Feast Day was taken by the tireless and loving Parish Priest of this historic Holy Church, Archimandrite Philotheos Petrakos.
