Perth: Sunday of the Holy Forefathers and the Feast Day of Saint Eleftherios
On the Sunday of the Forefathers, the 15th of December 2024, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth officiated at the Matins and presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Holy Hieromartyr Saint Eleftherios and His Mother Anthia at the Church of Sts Constantine and Helene in Northbridge WA.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace officially welcomed Father Leonidas Ioannou who was visiting with his family from the Holy Diocese of Chora. Father Leonidas presented His Grace and the Diocese of Perth a gift which included small relics of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Great Martyr Menas. His Grace thanked Father Leonidas for the sacred relics of the two great saints of the Church, presenting Father Leonidas with a small gift of appreciation. His Grace blessed the faithful in attendance with the relics, which were then made available for veneration at the conclusion of the service.
His Grace also officially thanked the Parishioners for their contribution to the 2024 Christmas Toy Drive conducted by the Diocese, in which 650 toys were presented by His Grace to the Perth Children’s Hospital.
In addition, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth wished Father Terry a very blessed Name Day and presented him, on behalf of the parish, a gift which included a family portrait.
His Grace concluded the service by conveying the paternal blessings and love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and wished everyone a Merry Christmas.
