Official Opening and Blessing of Honorary Consulate-General of Greece Office in Brisbane

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane conducted the Blessing of the new offices of the Honorary Consulate-General of Greece in Brisbane.

His Grace was accompanied by the clergy of both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Present at the event was the Ambassador of Greece in Australia His Excellency Mr Stavros Venizelos along with his wife Larisa Tikaidi and various community leaders of Brisbane.

His Grace congratulated the Honorary Consul-General of Greece in Queensland, Mr George Mastrocostas on the new offices and on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia presented an icon of the Holy Theotokos to the Honorary Consul-General with the prayer that God grants him strength, wisdom and guidance.

Moreover, His Grace spoke about the importance of the consulate office in Brisbane stating that it will serve as a witness to the wider australian community of our strong greek culture, our rich history and language.
